Game 1: Lindenwood 3, UMSL 1
UMSL broke the scoreless game in the fifth when sophomore Riley Schultz came home on an RBI fielder's choice from freshman Courtney Settles. Schultz led off the frame with a single, recording just the third hit of the game for the Tritons.Â
However, the Lions plated three runs, including two unearned, in the top of the seventh to rally for the win. Pitcher Amanda Weyh led off with a solo home run, while a Tritons error later helped Lindenwood take a lead they would not relinquish on a sac fly.Â
UMSL was limited to the three hits with graduate student Megan Brown recording a double.Â
Junior Annie Scaramuzzi was tagged with the loss, despite scattering just four hits in six and two-thirds of an inning. She also struck out six and walked three, while giving up all three runs, although just one was earned.
Game 2: Lindenwood 3, UMSL 2
Lindenwood tied the game in the seventh inning at 2-2 when Weyh drew a bases loaded hit by pitch. The Lions then scored the game-winning run in the top of the eighth on a one-out RBI single.Â
Both teams scored in the first inning with UMSL's run coming on a two-out RBI single from Settles. The Tritons took a 2-1 lead in the fourth on an RBI groundout from senior Anna VanGundy.Â
Lindenwood out-hit the Tritons, 9-7.Â
Settles finished with two hits and drew a walk, while junior McKenzie Lamos also had two hits.Â
