ST. LOUIS, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team suffered a pair of losses to GLVC leader and No. 16 ranked Southern Indiana on Saturday, falling 4-1 and 5-0.
Records: UMSL (27-20, 15-11 GLVC), Southern Indiana (38-10, 24-2 GLVC)
Game 1: Southern Indiana 4, UMSL 1
Junior Irene Travis scored the Tritons' lone run on a solo home run in the first inning. It was her first long ball of the season.
The Screaming Eagles, which out-hit UMSL, 11-4, scored one run in the first and three in the third.Â
Graduate student Megan Brown recorded a hit and also drew a walk.Â
Junior Annie Scaramuzzi suffered the loss in the circle, while Brown threw a scoreless three and two-thirds of an inning, which included four strikeouts.Â
Game 2: Southern Indiana 5, UMSL 0
USI pitcher Josie Newman recorded 16 strikeouts and limited UMSL to one hit - a single by junior McKenzie Lamos.Â
The Screaming Eagles plated single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings before tacking on two runs in the seventh.Â
Brown was tagged with the loss, allowing two runs on five hits in five innings.Â
