ST. LOUIS, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's tennis teams celebrated senior day with a pair of wins over William Jewell College to earn the No. 3 seeds in the West Division of both the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Tournaments. Seniors
Odette Beagrie,
Karl Heinrichs,
Clara Lopez Bueno, and
Leticia Lunge helped lead UMSL to a 4-0 victory for the women and a 4-1 win for the men.
Men
Senior
Karl Heinrichs and his partner
Marcos Navas started off doubles play for the Tritons (4-10, 3-2 GLVC) with a 6-3 win.
Juan Vigil and
AJ Bower secured the win for the Tritons with a 7-5 victory in No. 2 doubles. William Jewell (7-15, 0-5 GLVC) won the No. 3 doubles 7-6 in a tiebreak.
With the match starting later in the day, singles was played until the match was clinched. Ugnius Bickauskis claimed No. 1 singles for WJC scoring 6-3, 6-4.
Senior, Heinrichs notched another one in the win column at No. 5 singles with scores of 6-1, 6-1.
Raphael Kerndl won No. 4 singles with a pair of clean 6-0, 6-0 sets.
Jose Mayorga won No. 3 singles after winning a pair of tightly contested sets, 7-5, 7-5.
Women
The senior pair of
Odette Beagrie and
Leticia Lunge won No. 1 doubles for the Tritons (9-7, 4-2 GLVC) 6-1.
Anna Domingo and
Tara Erler took No. 2 doubles 6-0. Senior
Clara Lopez Bueno and her partner
Maja Lietzau won the No. 3 doubles 6-1.
The trio of seniors would go on to clinch the match for the Tritons in singles play.
Beagrie was dominant at No. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win.
Lunge won at No. 4 singles with scores of 6-3, 6-2.
Lopez Bueno won No. 6 singles 6-3, 6-0 to end the match in a 4-0 win for UMSL.

The men and women are both the No. 3 seed in the GLVC West Division. The Tritons will play in the GLVC Championship Tournament starting on April 29 at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Mo. The men will play the No. 2 seed in the East Division, McKendree University. The women will play East No. 2 seed Lewis University.
