Tritons Drop a Pair of Saturday Afternoon Games at Drury

Ozark, Mo. – Drury used the power of five home runs to earn a doubleheader sweep of the University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team Saturday at US Ballpark in Ozark, Mo. The Panthers hit a pair of round-trippers and limited the Tritons to only three hits in a 7-4 win in the first game of the day. In the nightcap, Drury hit three more home runs to earn an 11-3 victory over the Tritons.

Game One – The Tritons opened the scoring in the top of the first as Clayton Stephens ripped his team-leading 10thhome run of the season over the left-field wall to put UMSL on top 1-0. The Tritons added to the lead in the top of the second as Logan Mantz opened the frame with a walk and moved to second on a Matt DiMemmo single to place runners at first and second. Both runners scored as Carson Holin laced a two-run double down the left-field line to make the score 3-0. Brandon Olion plated another run with an infield groundout to extend the lead to 4-0.

The Panthers evened the contest by scoring two runs in both the second and third innings to put the score at 4-4. Drury took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the fourth with three runs on three hits to grab a 7-4 advantage.

That is all that Drury would need as the Panthers retired nine of the last 10 Tritons batters to earn the opening game victory.
