Tritons Blank Bulldogs 3-0 In Season Opener

JACKSON, Tenn. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team opened its 2022 season with a 3-0 win at Union on Thursday evening at Smith Field in Jackson, Tenn. The Tritons got goals from Jalyn Richardson, Cammie Robinson and Maya Ware.

UMSL dominated the first 30 minutes of the match taking four shots and getting a corner kick before capitalizing in the 32nd minute on Richardson's goal. The Tritons had a chance to extend their lead six minutes later but Kennedi Hooks was denied by Rylee Iorio.

UMSL continued to dominate in the second half and got an insurance goal in the 63rd minute when Robinson scored with an assist from Mia Milazzo. The Tritons sealed the victory in the 76th minute on Ware's goal.

UMSL outshot the Bulldogs 19-6 in the contest including 10-1 in shots on goal. Jaycee Cotton led the team with four shots while Candice Parziani added three shots off the bench. Mary Kate Neal stopped the only shot she saw to pick up her first collegiate shut out and victory.

The Tritons continue their five-game roadtrip to open the season as they head to Cleveland, Miss., to take on Delta State this Saturday at 12 p.m.
