Men’s Soccer Two-Game Winning Streak Snapped By Prairie Stars

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team had its two-game winning streak snapped in a 1-0 loss to Illinois Springfield on Sunday afternoon at Don Dallas Field. The Tritons drop to 3-3-1, 2-1 GLVC while the Prairie Stars improve to 2-3-1, 1-1-1 GLVC.

UIS dominated the first half taking 10 shots but Austin Reis made four saves including a couple that were point blank to keep the Prairie Stars off the board.

UMSL's best chance came in the 22nd minute as Jack Meuse got around the defense and dribbled into the left side of the 18-yard box and tried to beat Alberto Valsecchi on the near post but Valsecchi was able to get over to make the save.

UIS outshot the Tritons 10-3 in the first 45 minutes including 4-1 in shots on goal and had a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Prairie Stars scored the game's only goal in 1:45 into the second half. Luke Ridley sent a ball to Max Tweddle who passed into the middle of the box for Anton Aduwa-Emovon. Austin Reis came off his line to try and stop it but Aduwa-Emovon was able to chip it over Reiss for his first goal of the season.

UMSL had a chance to even the score two minutes later but Tommy Naumann's shot from 25 yards out sailed over the bar.

UIS had several more opportunities to extend its lead but Reis kept the Tritons in the contest making five saves.

The Prairie Stars finished the contest with a 23-5 advantage in shots including 11-1 in shots on goal and had 10 corner kicks to one for UMSL.

Meuse and Tommy Naumann took two shots apiece for the Tritons while Reis made 10 a career-high 10 saves in goal.
