KENOSHA, Wis. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Parkside on Friday afternoon at Wood Road Field in Kenosha, Wis. The Tritons drop to 1-1-1 on the season while the Rangers move to 3-1.
Parkside dominated most of the first half at one point holding a 4-1 advantage in shots. UMSL had a couple of scoring chances midway through the first 45 minutes as
Gabe Stanislawski had a shot saved in the 25th minute and
Leo Sowa had his shot blocked in the 29th minute.
The Tritons had two more chances in the later stages of the frame with
JT Goldstein missing a shot wide left in the 41st minute and then Stanislawski had his shot blocked shortly before halftime.
The Rangers broke the scoreless deadlock 2:13 into the second half on Tode Atlija scored his first goal of the season with an assist from Erick Villalobos.
UMSL was unable to muster any offense in the final 45 minutes as it was outshot 13-0 in the frame.
Austin Reis kept the Tritons in the game making saves. Stanislawski and Sowa combined for four of UMSL's six shots in the contest.
The Tritons play their final non-conference game of the season on Sunday hosting Kentucky Wesleyan at 3 p.m. at Don Dallas Field.
