MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team got back to the .500 mark with a 3-1 win over William Jewell on Friday evening at the Creve Coeur Soccer Complex in Maryland Heights, Mo. The Tritons improve to 4-4, 2-2 GLVC while the Cardinals drop to 1-6-1, 0-3-1 GLVC.
UMSL struck quickly scoring in the fourth minute as
Candice Parziani scored an unassisted goal to tie
Jalyn Richardson for the team lead at three.
The Tritons added a second goal in the 18th minute. Parziani found
Chelsea Riden who scored into the high center for her first goal of the season.
William Jewell cut UMSL's lead in half in the 29th minute as Clara Fronabarger scored high center.
The Tritons outshot the Cardinals 12-6 including 6-3 in shots on goal in the first 45 minutes. UMSL also had a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
UMSL dominated the second half possession wise as they outshot William Jewell 4-1 and had eight corner kicks to none for the Cardinals.
The Tritons tacked an insurance goal in the 81st minute as
Grace Osvath scored her first goal of the season with an assist from
Mia Milazzo.
UMSL finished the contest with a 16-7 advantage in shots including 9-4 in shots on goal. The Tritons had 11 corner kicks to one for William Jewell.
UMSL returns to the pitch on Sunday (Sept. 25) as it travels up to Kirksville to take on Truman State at 12 p.m.
