Women’s Soccer Plays To Draw At Truman

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw at Truman State on Sunday afternoon at Stokes Stadium in Kirksville, Mo. The Tritons are now 4-4-1, 2-2-1 GLVC while the Bulldogs are 3-1-5, 1-1-3 GLVC.

UMSL dominated the opening half taking nine shots including four on goal and had another that hit the post while Truman was held to just one shot that hit the crossbar. The Tritons also had three corner kicks in the first 45 minutes.

The Bulldogs broke the scoreless deadlock early in the second half. Truman had a corner kick and the ball was served into the box. Olivia Morris headed the ball towards goal but her attempt was saved off the line by a Triton defender. UMSL was unable to clear the ball as Casey Hansen sent a shot from the top of the box from about 20 yards out into the center of the goal for her first of the season.

The Tritons answered 4:09 later capitalizing on a misplay by the Bulldog defense. After a goal kick for Truman their defender tried to play the ball back to the keeper but the pass was off target and Mia Milazzo pounced on it beating the keeper to the loose ball and shooting into the upper left corner for her first goal of the season.

UMSL had a couple of chances later in the half to take the lead but were unable to get it past Tatumn Damron. Emily Bloomfield had a chance in the 73rd minute and Maddie Schweiss had a chance in the 76th minute.

The Tritons finished the contest with an 18-5 advantage in shots including 9-3 in shots on goal. UMSL had a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The Tritons are back in action next Friday (Sept. 30) traveling to Kansas City to take on Rockhurst at 5 p.m. at Bourke Field.
