ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision against Lewis at Don Dallas Field on Sunday afternoon. The Tritons fall to 2-3-2, 1-3-1 GLVC while the Flyers improve to 5-1-3, 5-0-1 GLVC.
Lewis held possession for a majority of the first 45 minutes and took 11 shots putting three on target but
Austin Reis stopped all three to keep the game scoreless at the break. UMSL had a shot attempt late in the first half from
Aaron Boulch that sailed high.
The Flyers scored the game-winner in the 54th minute. Jael Chavez played a long ball ahead to Marco Holzer but he couldn't control it and the Tritons tried to clear it but Godwin Asore intercepted the pass, drove down the right side of the box and crossed it into the middle. Holzer tried to run on to it but missed it but Joram Bogers was on the backside and finished it for his third goal of the season.
UMSL had a chance at the equalizer in the final 10 minutes but
Bobby Boone's shot from just outside the top of the box was saved by Sebastian Dopplehofer.
Lewis finished the contest with a 14-3 advantage in shots including 5-1 in shots on goal and had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Reis stopped four of the five shots he faced in the contest. Boulch, Boone and
Nick Schreiber each had a shot attempt.
The Tritons are back in action this Friday traveling down to Rolla, Mo., to take on Missouri S&T at 7:30 p.m.
