ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team's late rally came up short in its 2-1 loss to Upper Iowa on Friday evening at the Creve Coeur Soccer Complex in St. Louis. The Tritons fall to 2-6-2, 1-6-1 GLVC while the Peacocks improve to 6-4-2, 3-4-1 GLVC.
UMSL dominated the first 30 minutes of play but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.
UIU broke the scoreless deadlock in the 34th minute. Thomas Walle played a long ball ahead to Frider Blunck.
Austin Reis came off his line but was unable to get to the ball as Blunck dribbled around him and scored into the open goal for his fifth of the season.
Each side had five shots in the first 45 minutes and a shot on goal.
The Peacocks extended their lead to 2-0 in the 63rd minute. Patrick Carney found Preston Price on the right-hand side of the penalty box and Price shot it in from a tough angle into the side netting of the opposite post for his fourth goal of the season.
The Tritons got on the board in the closing seconds converting on a corner kick.

Bobby Boone who hammered home his shot into the upper part of the goal.
UMSL outshot Upper Iowa 12-11 in the contest but the Peacocks held a 4-3 edge in shots on goal. The Tritons finished the contest with a 10-6 advantage in corner kicks.
UMSL concludes its brief two-game homestand on Sunday hosting Truman State at 2:30 p.m.
