Austin Reis made eight saves in the Tritons 1-0 loss to No. 14 Illinois Springfield on Friday evening at Kiwanis Stadium in Springfield, Ill. UMSL drops to 2-8-2, 1-8-1 GLVC while the Prairie Stars improve to 10-1-3, 9-0-1 GLVC.
The Tritons had a chance to get on the board in the 24th minute but
Owen Sears shot headed towards the upper right-hand corner was tipped out by Andrea Scapolo for a corner kick.
Riccardo Sandulli scored the game's only goal in the 38th minute for his fourth goal of the season with an assist from Max Tweddle.
Reis made three saves in the first 45 minutes.
UMSL had a chance to tie the game early in the second half getting a corner kick 67 seconds into the frame but were unable to convert. It had another corner kick in the final 10 minutes but couldn't capitalize.
Reis finished with eight saves in the contest.
The Tritons play their final road game of the season on Sunday afternoon traveling to Quincy for a 2:30 p.m. kick.
