Men’s Soccer Comes Up Short at Quincy

ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team fought hard but came up short in its 3-1 loss to Quincy at Legends Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Tritons drop to 2-9-2, 1-9-1 GLVC while the Hawks improve to 5-8-2, 4-5-2 GLVC.

UMSL dominated the first half outshooting Quincy 10-2 and put three of those shots on frame but the game was scoreless at the intermission.

The Hawks scored the first goal of the contest 4:39 into the second half as Carter Venvertloh scored off a throw in for his third goal of the season.

The Tritons scored the equalizer in the 61st minute. Keegan Klingele committed a foul just outside the penalty box resulting in a yellow card. Devin Livingstone took the free kick from 19 yards out and curled it over the wall into the upper left corner for his fourth goal of the season.

The Hawks retook the lead in the 74th minute. Venvertloh took a shot that was saved by Austin Reis but Reis couldn't control the rebound and Rennato Ramos put home the loose ball for his third goal of the season.

Quincy added an insurance goal in the 84th minute. Marcel Kaspar hit a shot off the crossbar and the rebound fell to Ben Scotford who put it in for his second goal of the season.

UMSL outshot the Hawks 19-12 in the contest including 6-5 in shots on goal and had a 6-4 edge in corner kicks. Ty Gordon and Owen Sears led the Tritons with four shots apiece.
