Tritons Sweep William Jewell in Home Opener on Friday

ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's swimming teams opened the home portion of its schedule on Friday afternoon sweeping William Jewell at the UMSL Swimming Pool. The Triton men defeated the Cardinals 155-108 while the women were victorious 170-92.

The men opened the meet winning the 200 medley relay as the quartet of Guillem Masjuan Roca, Elliot LaBeau, Conley Savage and David Reynolds finished with a time of 1:34.18.

The Tritons picked up eight points in the 200 free as Hendrik Bechtel took second at 1:45.44 followed by Jaxson Mahlstadt in third in a time of 1:45.42 and Aaron Wicklund was fifth with a time of 1:46.71.

Ryan Conner won the 100 back in a time of 53.05 seconds while Mason Stimson was fifth at 56.50 seconds.

Masjuan Roca and LaBeau went 1-2 in the 100 breast as Masjuan Roca had a time of 58.73 seconds and LaBeau wasn't far behind at 1:00.44.

Savage, Harrison Miller and Ethan Boehle claimed the top three spots in the 200 fly. Savage won it with a time of 1:53.03 while Miller and Boehle finished at 1:58.05 and 1:58.77 respectively.

Reynolds took the top spot in the 50 free at 21.33 seconds, Masjuan Roca was the innwer in the 100 free in a time of 46.64 seconds while Savage and Conner were 1-2 in the 200 back at 1:55.25 and 2:00.42 respectively.

Bechtel, Wicklund and Dylan Bonnett claimed the top three spots in the 200 breast. Bechtel won the event with a time of 2:09.52, Wicklund was second at 2:12.29 and Bonnett touched the wall at 2:13.21.

Savage and Bechtel won the 100 fly and the 400 individual medley respectively.

UMSL's foursome of Masjuan Roca, Mahlstadt, Boehle and Reynolds won the 200 free relay in a time of 1:25.82.

The Triton women won nine of 14 events in Friday's dual.

The 200 medley relay quartet of Ella Lantz, Zara Konstapel, Audrey Lantz and Kate Nelson won the event in a time of 1:47.50.

Kelsey Roth and Nelson went 1-2 in the 100 back with Roth touching the wall first at 1:00.41 with Nelson right behind at 1:00.90.

Mackenzie Greenley was the winner in the 200 fly with a time of 2:14.50, Nelson won the 50 free in a time of 24.79 seconds, and A. Lantz took the top spot in the 100 free at 54.59 seconds.

E. Lantz, Roth and Isabella Gruidl went 1-2-3 in the 200 back with times of 2:09.79, 2:09.87 and 2:13.37 respectively. Justice Beard claimed the top spot in the 500 free with a time of 5:08.78 while Callie Clinton, Madison Bottorff, Maria Serra and Konstapel were the top finishers in the 100 fly.

UMSL's 200 free relay team of Nelson, Bottorff, E. Lantz and A. Lantz won the event with a time of 1:38.56.

The Tritons are back in action next Friday hosting Lindenwood at 3 p.m. at the UMSL Swimming Pool.
