ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team defeated Quincy 5-0 for its third straight win on Sunday afternoon at Legends Stadium in Quincy, Ill. The Tritons improve to 7-4-3, 6-3-1 GLVC while the Hawks drop to 3-10-2, 3-7-1 GLVC.
UMSL scored its first goal in the third minute as
Jada Holloman stole the ball, dribbled into the center of the penalty box and hit a low line drive past Julia Mincher into the lower right corner for her sixth goal of the season.
The Tritons second goal came in the 11th minute as
Jaycee Cotton headed home a corner kick from
Emily Bloomfield inside the left post.
Abby Reeves scored the third goal as she headed home a corner kick from Bloomfield.
UMSL outshot Quincy 13-1 in the first half including 8-0 in shots on goal and had three corner kicks.
The Tritons extended their lead 2:24 into the second half.
Josie Maddox dribbled down the right side of the pitch then crossed it to the top of the penalty box to
Kayley Judy. Judy fired a shot past Mincher into the upper right corner for her fourth goal of the season.
Judy struck again in the 67th minute. She tried to cross the ball but it ended up curling inside the right post for her third goal of the weekend and her fifth of the season.
UMSL recorded season-highs in shots (27), shots on goal (15) and points scored (13) and matched its season-high with five goals.
Mary Kate Neal picked up her third straight shutout.
The Tritons are back at home this Friday (Oct. 27) hosting Drury at 7:30 p.m. at Don Dallas Soccer Field.
