ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Drury on Friday evening at Don Dallas Field. The Tritons drop to 7-5-3, 6-4-1 GLVC while the Panthers improve to 12-2-2, 9-1-2 GLVC.
UMSL had the game's first scoring chance in the fifth minute but freshman
Aubree Wallace's attempt went wide right.
Drury scored the game's only goal in the 12th minute. After a foul by Wallace. Kourtney Tucker hit a free kick from 30 yards out that skipped over the arm of sophomore
Mary Kate Neal into the lower right corner for her fifth goal of the season.
The Tritons had a chance at the equalizer 11 minutes later as junior
Jaycee Cotton nearly scored off a corner kick into the lower right corner but her shot was saved off the line by a Panther defender.
UMSL had another chance in the 30th minute as junior
Jada Holloman ripped a shot that was saved by Kaitlin Knetzke.
The Tritons outshot Drury 3-2 in the first 45 minutes but each side had two shots on goal.
UMSL had an attempt early in the second half to tie the game but junior
Kayley Judy's shot ticketed for the lower right corner was knocked away by Knetzke.
The Panthers had two golden opportunities to extend their lead. The first came in the 61st minute as Jenna Peterson got behind the Triton defense but pushed her shot wide right. The other chance came in the 75th minute as Tucker missed a free kick wide right.
Drury finished the game with a 10-4 advantage in shots including 5-3 in shots on goal while each side had four corner kicks.
UMSL wraps up the regular season hosting Southwest Baptist on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at Don Dallas Field. The Bearcats lost at McKendree 2-1 on Friday.
