ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's tennis team wrapped up the fall portion of its 2023-24 schedule with a 6-1 win over Missouri Baptist on Friday afternoon at the UMSL Tennis Courts. The Tritons improve to 2-0 while the Spartans drop to 2-2.
UMSL won the first point of the match winning all three doubles contests.
Juan Vigil and
Raphael Kerndl beat Dragan Omcikus and Luca Ebenriter 6-3 in the first match.
Dominick Cuchran and
Jose Mayorga followed defeated Lucas Kzam and Arkhip Tokmakov in a tiebreak 7-6 (7-4) while
Joshua Mackey and
Gavin Sohn handed Youssef Ihab Mokhles and Nicolas Sanchez a 6-3 defeat.
The Tritons won five of the six singles contested. Mayorga defeated Omcikus 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 at number one singles. Vigil beat Ebenriter a 6-4, 6-4, Kerndl handed Ihab Mokhles a 6-0, 7-5 defeat. Cuchran fell to Tokmakov 2-6, 6-4, 7-10, Mackey beat Sanchez 6-2, 6-0 and
Tanin Ramnath beat Kzam 6-0, 6-2.
UMSL resumes its season in February taking on Washburn on Saturday (Feb. 3) at 1 p.m. in Topeka, Kan.
