ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team wrapped up its fall schedule with a 7-0 win over Missouri Baptist on Friday afternoon at the UMSL Tennis Courts. The Tritons improve to 2-0 while the Spartans fall to 1-1.
UMSL won all three doubles matches to win the opening point of the match.
Hannah Tse and
Maja Lietzau beat Luana Luersen and Mariana Azevedo 6-2 in the first doubles match.
Anna Favaron and
Anna Domingo handed Nina Vasilijkovic and Mia McIsaac a 6-1 defeat at number two doubles while
Lauren Sweeney and
Kaitlyn Challis beat Jocelynn Carmody and Teodora Iacob 6-0 in the final doubles contest.
On the singles side, Domingo opened with a 3-6, 6-1, 11-9 win over Luersen in the first singles contest. Lietzau beat Vasiljkovic in straight sets 6-2, 6-1, Tse blanked Carmody 6-0, 6-0, Favaron defeated McIsaac 6-1, 6-3, Sweeney knocked off Azevedo 6-2, 6-0 and Challis defeated Iacob 6-2, 6-4.
The Tritons open their spring schedule on Saturday (Feb. 3) traveling to Topeka, Kan., to take on Washburn at 1 p.m.
