ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team rolled to an 89-37 victory over NCAA Division III Principia College on Monday in nonconference action at the Mark Twain Building.
The Tritons improve to 2-0 with the victory. This game was an exhibition contest for the Panthers.
All 12 UMSL players scored in the contest led by
Jalysa Stokes with a game-high 19 points. She was joined in double figures by
Mara Rieder and
Amaya Blake with 12 and 10 points respectively.
Audrey Martinez-Stewart had a team-high four assists to go along with four rebounds. Rieder,
Morgan Ramthun,
Brooke Woodyard and
Tori Standefer had four rebounds each.
The Tritons shot 58 percent from the field in the game, including 39 percent from 3-point range.
UMSL utilized a 17-0 spanning the first and second quarters to build a substantial lead, and it never looked back.
Trinniti Matthews led Principia in scoring with nine points while Alana Hanson finished with seven points.
The Tritons are back in action this Saturday (Nov. 25) as they travel to Rolla to take on Missouri S&T at 1 p.m. in the conference opener for both teams.
