ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis swimming teams went 3-0 in its final meet of 2023 against Missouri S&T and Rockhurst on Friday afternoon at the Missouri S&T Swimming Pool in Rolla, Mo.
UMSL's men defeated Rockhurst 118-94 and edged S&T 107-105, while the women won 157-45 over the Hawks.
Hendrik Bechtel, Conley Savage and
Guillem Masjuan Roca led the men's team. Bechtel touched first in both the 500 and 100 freestyle with times of 4:47.94 and 9:51.30 respectively. Savage won the 200 back in a time of 1:50.90 and was the runner-up in the 200 individual medley at 1:55.55. Masjuan Roca finished second in the 100 and 200 free with times of 47.33 seconds and 1:44.15 respectively.
David Reynolds finished third in the 50 free with a time of 21.58 seconds and was tied four fourth in the 100 free at 48.76 seconds.
Aaron Wicklund touched third in the 500 free in a time of 4:49.96 and fourth in the 200 IM at 1:57.81.
Jaxson Mahlstadt took fourth in the 200 free with a time of 1:45.96 and finished fifth in the 200 fly in a time of 1:58.44.
Harrison Miller and
Ethan Boehle finished third and fourth in the 200 fly with times of 1:57.89 and 1:58.20 respectively.
Elvin Sabanadzovic tied with Reynolds for fourth in the 100 free and came in fifth in the 200 free at 1:47.61.
Mason Stimson was fourth in the 200 back at 1:58.23 and fifth in the 50 free in a time of 22.18 seconds.
Carson Ring finished fourth in the 1,000 free with a time of 10:15.36.
Dylan Bonnett took third in the 200 breast in a time of 2:10.78.
The Triton 400 medley relay quartet of Masjuan Roca, Miller, Savage and Wicklund finished third at 3:30.25 while the foursome of
Ryan Conner, Elliot LaBeau, Boehle and Sabanadzovic was fifth in a time of 3:37.72.
UMSL's 400 free relay quartet of Mahlstadt, Reynolds, Bechtel and Stimson finished third at 3:11.77 while the foursome of
Logan Walley, Isaac Scherman, Bridger Nielson and Ring came in fifth at 3:20.86.
Justice Beard and
Audrey Lantz were multiple winners for the Triton women. Beard won the 500 and 1,000 free with times of 5:09.47 and 10:32.32 respectively. A. Lantz touched first in the 50 free at 25.23 seconds and 100 free in a time of 54.79 seconds.
Kelsey Roth won the 200 free with a time of 1:57.71,
Kate Nelson touched first in the 200 IM at 2:15.76,
Ella Lantz was the winner in the 200 back at 2:13.52 and
Zara Konstapel touched first in the 200 breast in a time of 2:28.62.
Roth also finished second in the 500 free at 5:19.57.
Maria Serra took second in the 200 free with a time of 2:01.91,
Isabella Gruidl finished second in the 200 IM in a time of 2:17.09 and fourth in the 500 free at 5:28.28.
Madison Bottorff came in third in both the 50 free and 100 free with times of 25.43 seconds and 56.12 seconds respectively.
Brooklyn Messenger, Mackenzie Greenley and
Lily Franzen finished behind E. Lantz in the 200 back. Messenger touched second at 2:16.28 while Greenley finished at 2:20.21 and Franzen touched at 2:23.30.
Rebecca Bechtel finished third in the 200 and 500 free at 2:03.02 and 5:28.28 respectively.
Cheyanne Godleski touched second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:29.82 while
Sophi Whitesell finished third in the 200 IM at 2:17.11 and third in the 200 breast in a time of 2:36.63.
The Tritons took the top three spots in the 400 medley relay with the foursome of E. Lantz, Nelson, A. Lantz and Roth touching first at 4:03.97. The quartet of Messenger, Godleski,
Callie Clinton and Gruidl was second in a time of 4:10.01 and the team of Franzen, Whitesell, Greenley and
Mara Bare touched at 4:18.18.
UMSL's 400 free relay squad of Nelson, E. Lantz, Bottorff and Bechtel won at 3:42.31 while the foursome of Beard,
Averi Meade, Serra and Konstapel was third at 3:50.91.
The Tritons return to the pool on Friday (Jan. 12) when they compete in a dual against Washington University in St. Louis at the Millstone Pool at 5 p.m.
