ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's tennis team was tripped up by Southern Indiana 5-2 on Friday afternoon at the Evansville Tennis Center in Evansville, Ind. The Tritons fall to 2-2 on the season while the Screaming Eagles improve to 3-5.
UMSL won the opening point of the dual as
Jose Mayorga and
Joshua Mackey defeated Alfrendo Vogelarr and Omar El Samahy 6-3 in the number one doubles match. In the second doubles match it was
Juan Vigil and
Raphael Kerndl beating Yahor Bahdanovich and Ruben Emmerson-Hiini 6-2.
Tanin Ramnath and
Pascal Maclean-Wood fell to Guy Finkelstein and Quinten Gillespie 7-5 in the final doubles contest.
The Tritons lone win in the singles portion of the match came from Mackey as he beat Gillespie 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-5) in the fourth singles match. Kerndl and Ramnath went to third set tie breaks in their matches but came up short.
UMSL returns to the courts on Sunday as it travels to Marshall, Mo., to take on Missouri Valley at 12 p.m.
