ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team opened its Spring slate with a 6-1 win over Truman State on Friday evening at the St. Clair Tennis Club in O'Fallon, Illinois. The Tritons improve to 3-0 on the season while the Bulldogs drop to 4-3.
UMSL won the first point of the match taking two of the three doubles contests.
Maja Lietzau and
Hannah Tse defeated Allie Brown and Akansha Negi 6-3 in the number one doubles match. In the other doubles match it was the team of
Anna Domingo and
Anna Favaron beating Samantha Seggerman and Julia Fangman 6-3.
The Tritons won five of the six singles contests in the dual. Domingo beat Brown in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 in the first singles match. Lietzau followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Negi at number two singles. Tse beat Kennidy Shirey 6-0, 6-0, Favaron won over Sydney Dial 6-4, 6-3 and
Kaitlyn Challis beat Abbi Worster 6-1, 6-1 in the fifth singles match.
UMSL is back in action this Sunday as it travels up to Park Forest, Illinois to take on Purdue Northwest at 11 a.m. at the Park Forest Tennis Club.
