ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team dropped its dual match at Purdue Northwest 5-2 on Sunday at the Park Forest Tennis Club in Park Forest, Ill. The Tritons fall to 3-1 on the year while the Pride improve to 3-1.
Purdue Northwest took the opening point of the contest by winning all three doubles matches.
Maja Lietzau and
Hannah Tse dropped the first doubles match 6-4 to Oona Kintscher and Hayley Tsuen and
Anna Domingo and
Anna Favaron fell in their doubles match to Sienna Lopez and Aarni Reddy Yellu 6-1. The Pride won the third doubles contest by default.
Lietzau got the Tritons on the board defeating Kintscher in straight sets 7-6, 6-2 and then Favaron won by retirement over Patricia Dizon as she had to withdraw because of injury.
Domingo lost to Lopez 6-4, 6-3 in the number one singles contest, Tse fell to Reddy Yellu 6-3, 6-3 at number three singles and
Kaitlyn Challis lost to Hayley Tsuen 6-3, 6-1 in the final singles competition.
UMSL returns to the courts on Friday (Feb. 24) as it travels to Evansville, Ind. to take on Southern Indiana at 12 p.m. at the Evansville Tennis Center.
