SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's tennis team was swept at No. 18 Southwest Baptist 7-0 on Saturday evening at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo. The Tritons fall to 3-6 while the Bearcats improve to 9-7.
Jose Mayorga was defeated by Makary Adamek 6-3, 6-2 in the first singles contest.
Juan Vigil fell to No. 47 Marcio Silva 6-2, 6-3 in the second singles match.
Raphael Kerndl lost to Alvaro Nunez 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.
Joshua Mackey fell to Ilyes Khelifi in the fourth singles contest 6-2, 6-2.
Tanin Ramnath was beaten by Mikar Fisher 6-4, 6-1 and
Pascal Maclean-Wood lost to Fabian Neff 6-0, 6-1 in the final singles contest.
In doubles, Mayorga and Mackey lost to No. 12 Adamek and Silva 6-2. Ramnath and
AJ Burrows lost to Fisher and Khelifi 6-4 while the match between Kerndl/Vigil and Nunez and Yousef Nabil was unfinished.
UMSL is back in action on Sunday taking on Rockhurst at the Overland Park Racquet Club in Overland Park, Kan., at 9:45 a.m.
