ST. LOUIS – University of Missouri-St. Louis women's swimmer
Zara Konstapel added another accolade on Monday as she was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America second team for women's swimming. She is the first Triton swimmer, male or female, to earn this distinction and is the 18th UMSL student-athlete in program history to be named an Academic All-American.
Konstapel earned First Team All-America honors last Friday finishing sixth in the 100 breaststroke at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Indianapolis. It's the second straight year she's earned First Team honors in the 100 breast. She also earned honorable mention honors with her 13th place finish in the 200 breast last Saturday.
Konstapel, a native of Doetinchem, Netherlands, is double majoring in English and French with a 3.94 grade point average.
To be eligible for Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must carry a 3.5 or higher cumulative grade point average.
