ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team rallied from a 3-1 deficit to defeat Rockhurst 4-3 on Sunday at the Overland Park Racquet Club in Overland Park, Kan. The Tritons improve to 6-3 while the Hawks drop to 6-6.
UMSL won the first two doubles matches to take the opening point of the contest.
Maja Lietzau and
Hannah Tse defeated Sofia Valdespino and Marina Magai 6-2 at number one doubles while
Anna Domingo and
Anna Favaron handed Dani Lentisco and Martyna Jankowska a 6-2 defeat.
The Hawks won the first three singles contests to grab the lead but the Tritons rallied winning the final three matches to grab the victory.
Lisa Kirr started the comeback with a 6-3, 7-6 win over Andrea Dabbah at number four singles. Favaron tied the match with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Dina Dudic and
Kaitlyn Challis completed the comeback with a three-set win over Kaleigh Isgett. Challis won the first set 6-1 but Isgett tied it with a 7-6 win in the second stanza. Challis won the third set 1-0 to seal the victory.
UMSL is back in action this Friday hosting Drury at 2 p.m. at the UMSL Tennis Courts.
