ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team fell to Drury 7-0 on Friday (March 24) in a non-conference match at the Forest Lake Tennis Club in Chesterfield, Mo.
With the loss the Tritons drop to 6-4 while the Panthers move to 7-4.
Drury won both doubles matches to take the opening point as its number one team of Ewe Samberger and Ksenia Eremina defeated
Maja Lietzau and
Hannah Tse 6-4. The Panthers other doubles team of Maria Espejo and Clara Kuehnle beat
Anna Domingo and
Anna Favaron 6-1.
Drury won all six matches on the single side. Nastasia Jedrychowski beat Domingo in straight sets 7-5, 6-2 at number one singles. Lietzau suffered a 6-4, 7-5 setback to Kuehnle in the second singles contest. Samberger beat Tse 6-3, 6-4 at number three singles while Alma Abazi knocked off Favaron 6-2, 6-2 and Leana Chanove defeated
Kaitlyn Challis 6-2, 6-0.
UMSL returns to the courts next Tuesday as it travels to St. Charles to take on Lindenwood in its final nonconference match of the season at 11 a.m. at the Lindenwood Tennis Courts.
