ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team defeated Lindenwood 6-1 in its final non-conference match of the season on Wednesday at the Lindenwood Tennis Courts in St. Charles, Mo. The Tritons improve to 7-4 while the Lions drop to 3-8.
UMSL won the first point of the match by winning two of the three doubles contests.
Maja Lietzau and
Hannah Tse defeated Alina Jensterle and Elisa Dornelles 6-1 while
Anna Domingo and
Anna Favaron beat Juliana Kulczynski and Eveline Nilsson 6-1.
In the singles portion of the match the Tritons won five of the six contests. Domingo rallied for a 2-6, 6-3, 10-2 win over Jensterle in the first singles contest. Lietzau defeated Dornelles in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. Tse beat Nawal Cheema 6-1, 6-2 at number three singles,
Lisa Kirr knocked off Kulczynski 6-4, 6-1 and Favaron defeated Nilsson 6-4, 6-1.
The Tritons begin Great Lakes Valley Conference play this weekend traveling to Indianapolis to take on the seventh ranked Greyhounds at 1 p.m. (CDT) at the UIndy Tennis Center.
