ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team dropped its Great Lakes Valley Conference opener at seventh ranked Indianapolis 6-1 on Friday afternoon at the UIndy Tennis Center. The Tritons fall to 7-5, 0-1 GLVC while the Greyhounds move to 8-5, 1-0 GLVC.
UIndy won the opening point of the match by winning all the doubles contests.
Maja Lietzau and
Hannah Tse dropped their doubles match to No. 10 Anna Novikova and Sofia Sharonova 6-2.
Anna Domingo and
Anna Favaron lost to Maria Fiacan and Diane Flament 6-2.
In the singles portion, Favaron defeated Aimee Reynoso in the fourth singles contest 6-1, 6-3 to pick up the lone win for UMSL. Domingo lost No. 36 Novikova 6-2, 6-3, Lietzau dropped her match against Fiacan 7-6, 6-1. Tse lost a hard-fought match to Flament 6-4, 6-4.
Kaitlyn Challis fell in her contest against Sharanova 6-1, 6-0.
The Tritons are back in action on Sunday taking on McKendree at 10 a.m. at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis.
