ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's tennis team got wins from
Juan Vigil and
Joshua Mackey but it wouldn't be enough as they fell to Maryville 5-2 on Saturday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis.
The Saints (2-10, 1-2 GLVC) won the first point of the match by taking all three doubles contests.
Vigil got the Tritons on the board defeating Jose Hernandez 6-3, 6-2 in the second singles contest while Mackey beat Tom Schmitt 6-0, 6-7, 6-2 at number three singles.
Jose Mayorga dropped a hard-fought contest to Mario Aleksic 5-7, 6-2, 10-12 in the first singles match.
Tanin Ramnath lost to Sebastian Trigosso in straight sets 7-6, 6-0,
AJ Burrows fell to Juan Suero 6-3, 6-4 and
Pascal Maclean-Wood lost to Yann Frezouls 7-6, 6-1.
UMSL (3-11, 0-3 GLVC) is back at home this Friday (April 14) as it hosts Illinois Springfield at 2 p.m. at the UMSL Tennis Courts.
