ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team fell to Maryville 5-2 on Saturday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis. The Tritons are 7-7, 0-3 GLVC while the Saints improve to 6-5, 1-2 GLVC.
UMSL got a win in doubles from
Anna Domingo and
Anna Favaron as they defeated Emily Orlove and Victoria Lisson 6-2. Maryville took the doubles point getting wins from Carolina Velazquez and Billur Gonlusen 6-0 over
Maja Lietzau and
Hannah Tse. Maria Gouveia and Nazli Saka beat
Lisa Kirr and
Kaitlyn Challis 6-0.
The Saints won three of the first four singles contest to secure the victory. The Tritons got wins from Kirr as she beat Saka 6-2, 6-2 at number four singles while Lietzau defeated Velazquez 7-5, 7-5.
UMSL is back at home this Friday (April 14) as it hosts Illinois Springfield at 2 p.m. at the UMSL Tennis Courts.
