ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis Department of Athletics secured its highest finish in the annual Learfield Directors' Cup Standings, coming in at 50th.
UMSL's previous highest finish was 52nd in 2017-18.
The Tritons totaled 358.75 points this season with seven teams competing in the NCAA Tournament. UMSL collected 83 points in the fall courtesy of volleyball's deep run in the NCAA Tournament that concluded with an appearance in the national semifinals.
The Tritons picked up another 172 points after the winter championships with men's basketball picking up 73 points with their run to the Elite Eight while the men's and women's swimming team combined for 99 points. The men finished 22nd at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships earning 52 points while the women finished 27th which garnered 47 points.
The remaining 103.75 points came this spring with women's golf finishing 15th at the NCAA Women's Golf Championships for a total of 60 points, softball picked up 37.5 points and men's golf scored 6.25 points.
UMSL finished fourth among the 13 GLVC schools behind Indianapolis (fourth), McKendree (34th) and Drury (49th).
Every year since 1995, except 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19, the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup has been awarded to the year's best athletic institution with points based on each institution's finish in the NCAA Championships. The NCAA Division II consists of more than 300 colleges and universities.
Grand Valley State won the 2022-23 Learfield Cup crown, accumulating 936.75 points to win the title for the 15th time.
