ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team got off to a quick start scoring a pair of goals in the first five minutes of its 4-0 win over the University of Indianapolis on Friday evening at Don Dallas Field. The Tritons improve to 4-2-2, 3-1 GLVC while the Greyhounds drop to 3-4-2, 2-2-1 GLVC.
UMSL scored the first goal of the contest in the third minute.
Kayley Judy won the ball in the midfield and played it ahead to
Aubree Wallace. Wallace found
Jada Holloman who got behind the defense and beat Kendall Ellis for her team leading fifth goal of the season.
The Tritons scored again 1:25 later as Judy intercepted a clearance attempt and scored from 25 yards out for her first goal of the season.
UMSL nearly made it 3-0 later in the half as
Kennedi Hooks tried to head home a corner kick but her shot hit off the crossbar and stayed out.
The Tritons had a 7-2 advantage in shots in the first 45 minutes including 3-1 in shots on goal. UMSL had a 4-0 edge in corner kicks.
UMSL tacked on two insurance goals in the final 10 minutes.
Taylor Martin headed home a corner kick from
Emily Bloomfield in the 81st minute for her first collegiate goal and then
Josie Maddox scored an unassisted goal in the 88th minute for her first collegiate goal.
The Tritons finished the contest outshooting UIndy 13-6 including 7-1 in shots on goal. UMSL had 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Grace Hastert stopped the only shot she faced to earn her second shutout of the season.
The Tritons wrap up their brief homestand on Sunday afternoon hosting Lewis at 12 p.m.
