ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw against Ohio Dominican on Thursday evening at Don Dallas Field. The Tritons and Panthers are now both 1-0-2 on the season.
There wasn't much offense in the first half with ODU putting up the only shot in the half as Devin Schoenberger had a chance from the top of the box in the 16th minute but her shot sailed over the bar.
UMSL had the only two corner kicks in the first half but was unable to put anything on frame.
The Tritons had two chances 0:28 apart early in the second half both coming off the foot of
Josie Maddox. Maddox's first attempt was saved by Kaitlin Grady and then Maddox's second attempt was high from the top of the penalty area.
UMSL had two chances late in the game at the game-winner.
Casey Clark had an attempt in the 79th minute that was saved by Grady and then
Kylie Callison had an attempt in the 89th minute that was turned away by Grady.
The Panthers had an attempt in the final minute but
Rylee Griffith made her lone save on Alex Garver's attempt.
The Tritons had a 6-2 advantage in shots including 3-1 in shots on goal. UMSL took seven corner kicks to one for Ohio Dominican.
Griffith, making her first collegiate start, picked up her first career shutout. Grady made three saves in the second half to keep the clean sheet for Ohio Dominican.
UMSL concludes its season opening four-game home stand this Saturday hosting No. 18 Cedarville at noon at Don Dallas Field. The Yellow Jackets fell at Maryville 1-0 on Thursday evening.
