Konstapel, Masjuan Roca Lead UMSL Swim at McKendree

ST. LOUIS – Zara Konstapel won two events while Guillem Masjuan Roca had one event win and finished in the top four in two other events for the University of Missouri-St. Louis in its dual meet at McKendree on Friday afternoon at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex in Lebanon, Ill.

McKendree won the women's meet 177-99 and the men's meet 208-72.

Konstapel led the women's team with victories in the 100 breast (1:07.38) and 200 breast (2:28.53). She also swam the second leg of the 200 medley relay (1:43.26) that finished second and also included Ella Lantz, Audrey Lantz and Kate Nelson.

Also winning for the UMSL women were Justice Beard in the 1,650 free (17:23.52) and Mackenzie Greenley in the 200 fly (2:12.36).Beard was the runner-up in the 500 free (5:12.73), E. Lantz took second in the 200 back (2:11.03), Maria Serra finished second in the 200 IM (2:18.04) and the quartet of Nelson, Madison Bottorff, E. Lantz and A. Lantz were the runner-up in the 200 free relay (1:36.37).

Masjuan Roca captured first place in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:55.53, finished second in the 200 back (1:48:34) and fourth in the 50 free (21.61 seconds). He was also part of the 200 medley relay team (1:34.61) that finished fourth that included Dylan Bonnett, Conley Savage and David Reynolds.

Bonnett finished second in the 100 breast (58.53 seconds) and the 200 breast (2:09.91). Hendrik Bechtel was the runner-up in the 1,650 free (15:52.51) and Jaxson Mahlstadt took second in the 200 IM (1:57.96). Harrison Miller took third in the 200 fly (1:54.96) while Aaron Wicklund finished third in the 200 breast (2:10.38) and in the 200 IM (1:58.36).

The 200 free relay team of Mahlstadt, Wicklund, Ethan Boehle and Reynolds claimed the top spot with a time of 1:27.74 while the quartet of Mason Stimson, Elvin Sabanadzovic, Elliot LaBeau and Isaac Scherman were second at 1:28.35.

The Tritons wrap up their regular season on Saturday hosting Saint Louis University at noon at the UMSL Swimming Pool. The team will honor its 11 seniors prior to the start of the meet.
