ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's tennis team defeated Missouri Valley 5-2 in its final competition of its fall schedule on Saturday at the UMSL Tennis Courts. The Tritons improve to 2-1 while the Vikings fall to 0-1.
UMSL won two of the three doubles matches to win the opening point of the contest. It's number one team of
Marcos Navas and
Percy Siercke defeated Ruslan Anurev and Bogdan Zakharov 6-4 while the number two duo of
Tanin Ramnath and
Bauty Rooney beat Alecson Deschamps and David Schalgeter 7-5.
On the singles side, Navas needed three sets to defeat Deschamps 6-3, 4-6, 11-9, Ramnath beat Anurev in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, Siercke handed Alvaro Ruiz a 7-5, 6-3 loss and
Jose Yañez defeated G. Silva in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
UMSL returns to the courts in February for the start of its spring season.
