LEBANON, Ill. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against seventh ranked McKendree at Leemon Field on Sunday afternoon. The Tritons are 3-3-5, 1-2-5 GLVC while the Bearcats are 8-0-4, 5-0-4 GLVC.
UMSL struck first scoring in the 17th minute.
Roman Ryabchenko played the ball into the center of the 18-yard box to
Devin Livingstone who beat Christian Herluf from the center of the box for his second goal of the season.
McKendree got the equalizer shortly before halftime.
JT Goldstein was whistled for a foul in the penalty box on a corner kick attempt resulting in a penalty kick. Philipp Schmidt took the PK and went to the lower left corner but
Austin Reis read it and made the save. Reis couldn't control the rebound and it bounced back to Schmidt who scored into the opposite side.
The Bearcats had two more chances in the final minute of the stanza but Reis made both saves to keep the game tied at the break.
The Tritons had a chance to regain the lead in the 58th minute as
Drew Schenk tried to beat Herluf to the lower right corner but Herluf got over to make the save.
UMSL's defense held McKendree to only two shot attempts in the second half but neither were on goal.
The Tritons outshot the Bearcats in the contest 8-6 but McKendree had the edge in shots on goal 4-2. The Bearcats also had four corner kicks to UMSL's two.
The Tritons are back at home this Friday (Oct. 18) hosting Lewis at 7:30 p.m. at Don Dallas Field.
