LEBANON, Ill. -- The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team picked up its second straight win defeating McKendree 3-0 at Leemon Field on Sunday afternoon. The Tritons improve to 6-3-2, 3-3-2 GLVC while the Bearcats fall to 9-3-1, 5-3-1 GLVC.
The 3-0 win is UMSL's widest margin of victory over McKendree.
Kayley Judy scored her first goal of the season five minutes into the game.
Aubree Wallace took a shot from distance that McKendree goalkeeper Maicy Mueller saved but gave up a rebound. Judy crashed the net pouncing on the loose ball to make it 1-0.
Josie Maddox doubled the lead in the 25
th minute.
Jaycee Cotton found Maddox on the top of the 18-yard box, switching the field. Maddox beat Mueller to the upper right corner for her third goal of the year.
The Tritons added a third in the 39
th minute off a corner kick.
Emily Bloomfield served the corner into the six-yard box to
Kennedi Hooks who headed the ball past goalkeeper Peyton Baker who had replaced Mueller.
The Bearcats appeared to score in the 65
th minute but the goal was called back for offsides.
Mary Kate Neal secured her third shutout of the season, recording eight saves in the game.
UMSL outshot McKendree 19-15 and had the advantage in shots on goal as well with 10 shots on net compared to McKendree's eight. The Tritons had the advantage in corners as well with eight to the Bearcats five.
The Tritons return to Don Dallas Field this Friday (Oct. 18) hosting Lewis at 5 p.m.
