QUINCY, Ill. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team got back to .500 on the season with a 2-0 win over Quincy on Friday evening at Jack Mackenzie Field at Legends Stadium. The Tritons improve to 4-4-6, 2-3-6 GLVC and snap a seven-game winless skid while the Hawks fall to 5-7-2, 4-5-2 GLVC.
With the win, UMSL picked up its first win at Quincy since 2010 and snapped a seven-game winless streak and six-game losing streak.
The Tritons scored twice in the first 10-plus minutes of the contest and never looked back.
Drew Schenk scored his first goal of the season in the ninth minute with a shot to the lower left corner that beat the keeper with an assist from
Roman Ryabchenko.
UMSL got its second tally 85 seconds later as
Gibson Hunt scored his first collegiate goal with an assist from Ryabchenko.
That was all the offensive support that
Austin Reis needed as he faced only one shot on goal in the contest to pick up his second shutout of the season.
The Tritons outshot Quincy 11-3 in the contest including 9-1 in shots on goal.
UMSL plays its final road game of the regular season on Sunday traveling to Fayette, Iowa to take on Upper Iowa at 2:30 p.m.
