Fast Start Propels Tritons to Fifth Straight Win

QUINCY, Ill. -- The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team dominated Quincy with a 3-0 win on Friday evening at Jack Mackenzie Field at Legends Stadium in Quincy, Ill. The Tritons picked up their fifth straight win to improve to 9-3-2 overall including 6-3-2 in the GLVC while the Hawks drop to 3-8-3, 3-5-3 GLVC.

Josie Maddox got UMSL off to one of the fastest starts in school history, scoring just 14 seconds in to the first half. The Tritons pressed on the kickoff with Jada Holloman forcing a turnover in the midfield. With the loose ball bouncing to Holloman, she carried it down the far side of the field before sending a cross into the box that Maddox finished, knocking the ball into the side netting for her fifth goal of the season.

Maddox struck again in the 15th minute to double the score. UMSL found Kayley Judy just outside the six-yard box on a throw in. Judy headed the ball towards the near post and found Maddox finishing her run. Maddox tucked the ball into the near post for her sixth goal of the season.

Natalie Scott added the third goal in the 75th minute. Once again winning possession in the midfield, the Tritons advanced the ball down the wing before sending a cross into the box. Scott was on the receiving end, taking a few touches to turn her defender, before turning herself and rifling the ball into the back of the net for her third goal of the year.

UMSL outshot Quincy 28-3 in the contest including 9-3 in shots on goal. Mary Kate Neal made three saves to record her career-high fifth shutout of the season.

The Tritons play their final road game of the regular season on Sunday traveling to Fayette, Iowa to take on Upper Iowa at 12 p.m.
