ST. LOUIS -- The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss at home to Maryville on Friday evening. The Tritons fall to 4-3-2, 1-3-2 GLVC while the Saints improve to 7-0-1, 6-0 GLVC.
Maryville opened the scoring in the 27
th minute with a solo effort by Ulrika Bredin. The senior found herself with space at the top of the 18-yard-box and fired off a shot that curled into the top corner to make it 1-0 Saints.
At the end of the first half Paige Berry doubled the score for Maryville after receiving a through ball from Nika Vemdal. Driving down the center, Berry made it 2-0 Maryville.
The final goal of the game came in the 78
th minute by Vemdal. Ashlyne Hunt and Bredin received assists on the play.
Jada Holloman had the Tritons best chance of the night in the 84
th minute, slicing through the Saint defense before sending the ball right at Maryville keeper Agnes Vilen who made the save.
The Saints outshot the Tritons 19 to nine, though UMSL forced four saves out of Maryville.
Mary Kate Neal made seven saves total for the Tritons, including five in the second half.
UMSL celebrated Friends, Family, and Alumni weekend as well as Academic Appreciation at the home game.
The Tritons begin a two-game road trip next Friday traveling to Springfield, Ill., to take on Illinois Springfield at 5 p.m. at Kiwanis Stadium.
