ST. LOUIS -- The University of Missouri St. Louis women's soccer team cruised to their seventh straight victory in a 4-0 shutout of William Jewell on Friday evening at Don Dallas Field. The win clinched a top five GLVC finish for the Tritons and improved their record to 11-3-2, 8-3-2 GLVC while the Cardinals fell to 3-11-2, 2-9-2 GLVC.
Josie Maddox started the scoring with her seventh goal of the season in the 16
th minute.
Jada Holloman's initial shot was shaved by the William Jewell keeper, who deflected it wide. The ball deflected off
Kayley Judy before falling to Maddox, who made no mistake about putting it in the back of the net to make it 1-0.
Kamryn Ealey would score next for the Tritons in the 50
th minute. Again, the initial Tritons shot was blocked by the William Jewell defense, but the second chance deflected to the far post, where Ealey was waiting. Ealey wasted no time putting it in the back of the net to make it 2-0 Tritons.
In the 73
rd minute, Holloman struck. A turnover in the midfield found Maddox with space racing into the box. Maddox's initial shot was deflected wide of the goal by the Cardinals defense, but found Holloman waiting to tuck it inside the post for her tenth goal of the season.
The final Tritons goal came in the 78
th minute courtesy of
Adelaide Green. A perfect through ball and a touch from
Eylesa Kellam found Green with a one on one with the goalie. Green took a touch before slotting the ball home to make the score 4-0. The goal was her first of the season.
The shutout was
Mary Kate Neal's seventh on the season and her fourth in as many games. William Jewell did not manage to record a shot during the match.
The Tritons conclude the regular season with a Sunday morning matchup against Truman (5-7-4, 4-6-3 GLVC) at Lou Fusz Soccer Complex at 11:30 a.m.
