ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's swimming teams won 25 events to sweep Truman State on Saturday afternoon in the Tritons' 2024-25 home opener at the UMSL Swimming Pool.
UMSL's women defeated the Bulldogs 160-101 to improve to 3-1, while the Triton men topped Truman 197.5-64.5 to even their record at 2-2.
Justice Beard captured three individual victories while
Ella Lantz added two and
Cheyanne Godleski,
Kate Nelson,
Chiara Alberola and
Romina Itzkovich had one event win apiece. Lantz and Nelson were also part of the winning 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relay teams.
Beard took the top spot in the 1,000 free in a time of 10:36.94, the 200 free at 1:56.31 and the 500 free with a time of 5:08.84.
Lantz was the winner in the 100 and 200-yard backstrokes. She touched the wall at 59.84 in the 100 and had a time of 2:11.96 in the 200.
Godleski won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:29.54, Nelson won the 100 breast in a time of 1:07.90, Alberola won the 200-yard butterfly at 2:15.23 and Itzkovich took the top spot in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:13.67.
The foursome of E. Lantz, Nelson,
Audrey Lantz and
Madison Bottorff won the 200-yard medley relay finishing in a time of 1:49.34 while the quartet of Nelson, Bottorff, E. Lantz and A. Lantz won the 400-yard free relay at 3:38.75.
The Triton men claimed 12 individual events and both relays.
Hendrik Bechtel was the winner in the 200 free at 1:42.63, the 500 free with a time of 4:50.17 and the 1,000 free in a time of 9:29.95.
Conley Savage won both butterfly events taking the top spot in the 100 fly at 50.74 and 200 fly at 1:53.09 and the 200 back in a time of 1:55.31.

Lathan Parks,
Metehan Saruhan,
Dylan Bonnett,
Aaron Wicklund each won an event in the dual.
Suitor won the 100 back at 53.19, Hanesworth took the honors in the 100 breast with a time of 59.46, Parks tied Truman's Colin Wolfmeyer in the free at 22.47 seconds, Saruhan won the 100 free with a time of 48.11 seconds, Bonnett was the winner in the 200 breast at 2:11.68 and Wicklund won the 200 IM at 1:58.77.
UMSL's 200 medley relay team of Suitor, Hanesworth,
Ethan Boehle and
Joan Cortadellas Llubera won the event with a time of 1:35.83 while the quartet of Saruhan, Cortadellas Llubera, Boehle and
David Reynolds were the winners in the 400 free relay in a time of 3:10.83.
The Tritons return to the pool on Thursday (Nov. 21) when they take part in IU Indy House of Champions meet at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis. Prelims begin at 9 a.m. (CST) all three days with the final sessions starting at 5 p.m. (CST).
