ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's swimming teams won 18 events and swept Quincy on Saturday afternoon at the UMSL Swimming Pool.
The Triton women defeated the Hawks 141-59 to improve to 4-1, while the UMSL men topped Quincy 119-82 to move to 3-2.
On the women's side, the Tritons won all 11 events contested and were led by
Justice Beard and
Audrey Lantz with two event wins each. Beard won the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard butterfly with times of 1:55.78 and 2:10.43 respectively. Lantz was the winner in the 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard backstroke in times of 24.91 seconds and 2:14.25.
UMSL also got winning performances from
Chiara Alberola in the 1000-yard free at 11:26.04,
Romina Itzkovich in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:01.28,
Kate Nelson in the 100-yard free at 54.68 seconds,
Isabella Gruidl in the 500 free in a time of 5:30.56 and
Cheyanne Godleski in the 200 breaststroke at 2:29.19.
The 200-medley relay foursome of Itzkovich, Nelson,
Macy Ganshert and
Madison Bottorff won the race with a time of 1:50.51 and the 200 free relay quartet of Lantz, Bottorff, Beard and
Ella Lantz won the event in a time of 1:40.06.
The Triton men claimed five individual events and two relays and were led by
Metehan Saruhan with two event victories. Saruhan won the 200 free at 1:44.83 and the 100 free in a time of 47.66 seconds.
Also on the winner's stand were
Ethan Boehle in the 200 fly (1:57.13),
Ryan Conner in the 200 back (1:55.42) and
Dylan Bonnett in the 200 breast (2:12.96).
UMSL's 200-medley relay foursome of Conner,
Landon Hanesworth,
Lathan Parks and
Joan Cortadellas Llubera turned in a time of 1:35.27 and the 200-free relay quartet of Parks, Saruhan, Cortadellas Llubera and Boehle came in at 1:24.85.
The Tritons return to the pool on Friday (Dec. 14) hosting a winter triangular against Maryville and Missouri S&T starting at 3 p.m. at the UMSL Swimming Pool.
