Conley Savage earned honorable mention All-America honors on Wednesday evening at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Beard swimming in the final of five heats of the 1,000-yard freestyle swam out of lane one and finished seventh in her heat to finish 11th overall with a time of 10:04.42. It's the first honorable mention All-America honor of her career.
Savage won the second heat in the morning prelim of the 200-yard individual medley in a school record time of 1:47.66 to qualify for the consolation final. He finished eighth in the consolation final with a time of 1:49.27. It's his second honorable mention All-America honor of his career.
Aaron Wicklund also swam in the prelims of the 200 IM and finished 41st overall in a time of 1:50.77.
Hendrik Bechtel swam in the fourth of five heats in the men's 1,000 free and finished seventh in his heat in a time of 9:29.79 to finish 32nd overall.
UMSL's 200-yard medley relay team of
Ella Lantz,
Zara Konstapel,
Audrey Lantz and
Kate Nelson finished 17th in the event with a time of 1:43.08.
The NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships continues Thursday with morning prelims in the 100 fly, 400 IM and 200 free beginning at 9 a.m. (CDT). Savage will swim in the 100 fly and 400 IM and Wicklund will also swim in the 400 IM while Bechtel will swim in the 200 free. The finals of those events along with the 400-yard medley relay will be held Thursday evening at 4:30 p.m. (CDT). The Tritons relay team of E. Lantz, Konstapel, A. Lantz and Nelson will swim at the end of the evening session.
