Zara Konstapel earned All-America honors with their performances on Friday evening at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Savage qualified for the championship final of the 200-yard fly with the sixth fastest time in the morning prelim. He swam out of lane six in the first heat and finished in a school record time of 1:46.11. In the final he swam out of lane two and had a time of 1:47.74 to finish eighth in the event and earn first team All-America honors for the first time in his career. He earned honorable mention All-America honors with his 13th place finish in the 200-fly in 2023.
Konstapel qualified for the consolation final of the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.61 in the morning prelim finishing with the 13th fastest time. She swam out of lane seven in the third heat finishing fourth in her heat. In the final she swam out of lane two and finished fourth in the consolation final with a time of 1:02.99 to finish 12th in the event and earned her second honorable mention honors at this year's championship meet.
The other Tritons swimmers that were in competition on an individual basis Friday finished outside of the top 16, as
Hendrik Bechtel finished in a time of 4:38.21 in the 500-yard free.
Justice Beard had a mark of 4:57.80 in the 500 free and
Ella Lantz finished with a time of 55.88 seconds in the 100-yard back.
UMSL's 200-yard free relay team of
Audrey Lantz,
Ava Boehning,
Madison Bottorff and
Kate Nelson finished third in the first of three heats and 17th overall with a tie of 1:33.68.
Saturday's schedule at the NCAA Division II Championships has Konstapel in the 200 breast, E. Lantz in the 200 back, Beard in the 1,650 free and Bechtel in the 1,650 free.
