ST. LOUIS – University of Missouri-St. Louis freshman women's swimmer
Justice Beard finished seventh in the 1650-yard free to earn first team All-America on Saturday evening on the final day of the NCAA DII Swimming and Diving Championships at the Spire Institute in Genva, Ohio.
Beard swam out of lane two in the final heat and finished sixth in the heat with a time of 16:47.53. She had an average lap time of 28.02 seconds. It's her second All-America accolade of the week as she finished 11th on Wednesday in the 1,000-yard freestyle to receive honorable mention honors.
Beard joined
Conley Savage and
Zara Konstapel as two-time All-Americans at this year's championships. Savage earned first team honors with his eighth-place finish in the 200 fly on Friday and honorable mention accolades with his 16th place finish in the 200-yard individual medley on Wednesday.
Konstapel earned honorable mention honors as part of UMSL's 400-yard medley relay that finished 15th on Thursday and was 12th in the 100-yard breaststroke on Friday.
The other Triton swimmers that were in competition on an individual basis Saturday finished outside of the top 16, as
Ella Lantz finished in a time of 2:03.63 in the 200-yard back, Konstapel had a time of 2:18.62 in the 200 breast and
Hendrik Bechtel came in with a time of 16:24.43 in the 1650 free.
UMSL's women finished the championships in 26th place with a total of 27 points while the Triton men came in a tie for 31st with 12 points.
