ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's tennis team dropped its match against Rockhurst 5-2 on Saturday at the UMSL Tennis Courts. The Tritons fall to 3-4 on the season while the Hawks improve to 4-3.
UMSL won the first doubles match as
Raphael Kerndl and
Juan Vigil defeated Josef Truhlar and Louis Keiner 6-4 but Rockhurst won the next two doubles contests to take the first point of the match. Semyon Tsyrenov and Augustin Cortes beat
Jose Mayorga and
Gavin Sohn 7-5 while Gustavo Gil and Alex Tikhomov knocked off
Tanin Ramnath and
Marcos Navas 6-3.
The Tritons got singles wins from Kerndl in the number three singles match as he beat Cortes 6-4, 6-2 and Sohan rallied for a three-set win over Truhlar 5-7, 6-3, 10-5 at No. 6 singles. Mayorga was bested by Keiner 6-4, 6-3 in the first singles contest, Vigil fell to Tsyrenov 6-3, 6-1 at number two singles. Navas was defeated by Gil 6-4, 6-1 and Ramnath lost to Diego Schtulmann 6-4, 6-4.
UMSL continues its four-match homestand next Saturday hosting Michigan Tech at 10 a.m. at the UMSL Tennis Courts.
