ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's tennis team came up short in its 7-0 loss at No. 13 Drury on Saturday afternoon at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo.
The Panthers (9-2) took the first point of the contest by winning all three doubles matches. The Tritons (5-5) top doubles team of
Juan Vigil and
Raphael Kerndl was defeated by Sylvan Garin-Michaud and Jesus Gonzalez 7-5.
Jose Mayorga and
Joshua Mackey fell to Marlon Wilken and Lukas Rieber 6-1 and
Marcos Navas and
Tanin Ramnath dropped their doubles contest to Alejandro Esquivel and Yaroslav Sharyy 6-3.
In the singles portion, Kerndl dropped the number two singles match to Garin-Michaud 6-2, 6-2, Mayorga fell to 23rd ranked Sharyy 6-2, 6-2 and Ramnath lost his match to Rieber 7-5, 6-1. Vigil came up short against 41st ranked Wilken 6-4, 7-5. Navas dropped the opening set of his duel against Gonzalez 6-4 but came back to win the second set 6-2 before falling in the third set tiebreak 0-1 (6-10). Mackey fell in a hard-fought match to Matthieu Gachon 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 0-1 (8-10).
