ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's tennis team opened its four-game road trip with a 7-0 loss at Drury on Saturday afternoon at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo.
The Panthers (6-5) took the first point of the contest by winning two of the three doubles matches.
Anna Domingo and
Maja Lietzau dropped their doubles match to Alma Abazi and Ewa Samberger 6-1 and
Anna Favaron and
Lauren Sweeney lost to Leana Chanove and Eliana Weichel 6-0.
Hannah Tse and
Alekssndra Lopez defeated Maria Fernanda De la Torre and Antanina Novik 6-2.
On the singles side, Domingo fell to Samberger in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 and Lietzau lost to Abazi 6-2, 6-3. Sweeney was beaten by Weichel 6-1, 7-5. Lopez took the opening set of her match against Novik 6-0 but lost the next two 6-2, 6-4. Tse was defeated by Chanove 3-6, 6-1, 2-6 and Favaron dropped the final contest to Fernanda De la Torre 6-3, 4-6, 0-1 (8-10).
UMSL (5-4) continues its four-game road trip on Monday taking on UT Dallas at 1 p.m. in Richardson, Texas.
